Ajax has reached an agreement with 21 year old Danny Hoesen. The forward comes from Fulham FC in England, where he had been under contract until July 1, 2013. Hoesen signs a contract which is effective immediately and runs for three seasons, until June 30, 2015. A one sided agreement for Ajax to extend for one more season has been included in the contract.
With a big smile, Hoesen signed the contract, which binds him to Ajax for the next few seasons. “This makes me so proud. I’m very happy with the contract. It seems amazing to me to play for a top club like Ajax. I went to England young. That was a good experience. Fortunately, Fortuna Sittard gave me the opportunity to develop and play even more. I’m grateful to them for that.”
Because Hoesen hasn’t played any games during the pre-season, he’ll first play with Jong Ajax. Marc Overmars, director of football affairs: “Danny will start with Jong Ajax. He’s a talent, that’s why we’ve offered him a contract for several seasons. He could be our centre forward in the future. We’re happy that he came to Ajax and are curious how he’ll develop.”
Hoesen was born on January 15, 1991, in Heerlen. He played at Fortuna Sittard in the Netherlands. The centre forward left in the summer of 2009 for Fulham FC, who loaned him out to the Finnish HJK Helsinki and Fortuna Sittard, respectively. He was Sittard’s top scorer last season with 13 goals.
